Meditation-Why so mysterious???

This question baffles me like every single man and woman on this planet. There must be a handful of people who have never come across this word in forms and meanings so strange, that it makes meditation feel alien and occult. But is that so? Well from what I understand and gather, and please I am no expert!!! Meditation is being aware of your breath in everything one does in the course of the day. If it’s so simple then why billions and billions of dollars are spent each year learning meditation. The question to that my friends lie in our misguided beliefs about everything to do with wellness, improvement and positive change in our lives. We from a young age, specially true in the last 30 odd years have been influenced, bombarded with so many health ideas, stories ,articles across various platforms that now our mind doesn’t have a clear picture of the truth. Meditation is a victim of this over exposure. Something so basic and simple has become larger than life.

I am healthy thus I am lonely.

Every night while i am reading a book, I wonder what my friends are upto.Are they getting drunk somewhere? Is dinner still pizzas and biryani? Are the omelettes at the stations still as greasy? This statement depicts what my life is like since I decided to become healthy. My friends are still around but choose not to call.I have chosen the kind of healthy food choices i want to make. This automatically leads to my explusion from "club cool". This is the bane of modern life .Once a man starts walking down the road of wellness and good health he slowly starts becoming a social outcast. But why should that be? Isn’t health important? Aren’t we today facing an epidemic in terms of lifestyle diseases? Well it’s true but.... Modern life with all its pressures and stress needs an outlet. Feeling right

There are days when on waking up I feel like I have won Wimbledon. Some days   I feel even walking 10 steps to the bathroom akin to running a marathon. Why do we feel in such diverse ways to mornings that were and will always be the same.  Unless of course you sleep on a plane and wake up each morning in different continents. Ah! The life of James Bond  There is no answer to this. The food you eat, the people you speak to, the programs you watch, even the books you read all this play a part in the health of your sleep. When a person sleeps the subconscious mind gets the freedom to wander about in whichever direction it pleases. Along the way it meets the stupidity and nonsense that the conscious mind creates.10 times out of 10 the subconscious is always right. The wrestling match that follows between these 2 ends up sapping a man of his energy, thus feeling tired when one awakes. Secondly the food you consume plays a very big role. Eating Out

For the greater part of my life home cooked food was lowest on my list of priorities.  I love eating out, that to me is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Since the last 3 months I have gone healthy with a vengeance. All my meals during the day are home cooked.   I have been following this pattern, with an exception when i watch movies. The thought of eating those greasy samosas and ordinary popcorn is still something that makes my mouth water.   Last Saturday we had gone out for dinner to a friend’s place. The couple being warm, Indian and gracious decided to feed us till we dropped. From the time we got there food and beer just followed. Initially it was all fun, great conversation was happening. Thus my mind switched off to the reality of what i was eating The food was ordered from a Moghlai restaurant which at one time was considered the best in the business. Laugh 2 Health

Few years back when i went for a run in the morning i heard the strangest of sounds. I heard a group of people laughing away in unison. I was perplexed and a tad curious. Why were these people laughing? On inquiring  I learnt that this was a new form of exercise being promoted for good health. Now i am all for new therapies but ,yaar laughing for good health is like expecting India to whitewash Australia in an away series..The idea sounds great in principle but realistically very farfetched. I am a true Gemini , so the skeptic in me was swept away by this bizarreness(what I felt at the time). Thus 2 days later I decided to join this class. On inquiring about the fees  was told it’s free. When I asked why was politely told laughter is universal like water and oxygen. The mind and body not only produces it but also needs it for enrichment of our being. The moment you decide to become healthy, make it an integral part of your lifestyle, you become sheepish in attitude.  Discussing good health, the fact that you are making these changes are broached about gingerly when sitting with friends or family. This cloak and dagger game is living up to the trend of how the common man views the term health. Like discussed in my previous blog in the last 50 odd years we have started paying a premium on being healthy. Healthy way of life which is one of the most essential and basic aspect for leading a good and enriching life, now   looked upon as an underground movement for the elite and few. Why is that?Is being healthy ,eating right, getting fitter something to be ashamed and kept under wraps? Are we doing something shady and illegal getting healthy, are we a part of a secret society that is propagating a revolution against the present order?
