Meditation-Why so mysterious???

This question baffles me like every single man and woman on this planet. There must be a handful of people who have never come across this word in forms and meanings so strange, that it makes meditation feel alien and occult.

But is that so? Well from what I understand and gather, and please I am no expert!!!

Meditation is being aware of your breath in everything one does in the course of the day.

If it’s so simple then why billions and billions of dollars are spent each year learning meditation. The question to that my friends lie in our misguided beliefs about everything to do with wellness, improvement and positive change in our lives.

We from a young age, specially true in the last 30 odd years have been influenced, bombarded with so many health ideas, stories ,articles across various platforms that now our mind doesn’t have a clear picture of the truth.

Meditation is a victim of this over exposure. Something so basic and simple has become larger than life.

Meditation is feeling every breath, experiencing every beautiful feeling and object present in nature. Meditation can be practiced in any form and style. One can play music and meditate, exercise and feel peace, concentrate on emptiness in the far away horizon and experience joy. The techniques to meditate differ but the goal remains only one. To let our minds and heart experience the joy of life, as our ancestors did when they walked and cast their eyes on the wonders of nature.

Does it mean that meditation is easy and no practice is required? Like with any skill or art form that we learn and master, meditation too needs to be practiced daily and in a disciplined fashion.

But the time, place, form, time spent on learning meditation is up to ours and ours only. If you feel like meditating while travelling do it, you want to meditate while reading, cooking, painting, go ahead..

Meditation with time and practice will help you discover the hidden aspects of your mind and heart. This will make you one with your desires and aspirations. Mind you these will be your real desires, not the ones you have grown up on believing as the truth. Meditation will help you get rid of the mental blocks that have festered in your mind, hindering your thought process. Meditation will make you one with yourself. Only when you feel that are you one with nature.

This is the first in a series of blogs I will be writing explaining, understanding and discovering the joys of meditation. I would like the readers to please give me feedback of what they feel is meditation. This will help us discover and learn meditation together.

In sharing we learn every day. The student today is the teacher tomorrow.

Meditate now for a better you and better earth.
