The Blame Game

Blame game is a term that is not defined by the English Dictionary. What is the meaning and why is it important in terms of health and nutrition.

Like i have discussed in my previous blogs the road to good health starts with good intentions but various myths surrounding the subject cloud our judgement .
Once we have ascertained we want to get fit and healthy we don’t go out and try to learn, absorb and throw ourselves completely into how we can get healthier. We pick up bits and pieces from the strangest of sources and start on our fitness program.
The results show up initially which is expected as the body starts getting some exercise and decent enough healthy food. We are now very charged and decide to get into this with more vigour. We try something drastic which may be harmful to our bodies but since weight loss and not being healthy is our goal, We don’t care.
Few months into the routine you know what happens? All the initial weight that we lost piles up again. Dejected from not seeing the results consistently we indulge in The blame game
We blame our nutritionists, physical trainers, our cooks at home, our genes, even going as far as blaming the country and environment for our fitness woes. But is this justified?
The only reason to blame for our failed attempt at fitness is WE. But why can’t we see that? It’s not that we can’t see it, but as with most things in life, we find an excuse to blame for our failures. We even go the extent of looking at every fit individual with such disdain and  jealousy that we proclaim “You know these fit people surely must be using steroids or procedures  like liposuction “How can they always be so fit and well maintained..Something is surely fishy there I tell you.
The conspiracies start now. These like a deadly virus infect our minds and all around us.
I ask you this. Is there an elixir of health somewhere that only the hallowed few can drink from? Is fitness an enigma understood by only the knights of the health kingdom? Are its mysteries so difficult to comprehend that we need an IQ of 150 and above to understand?
The answer is NO!!!
We are to blame for our follies and lack of understanding towards fitness. We need to stop playing the blame game however appealing and time worthy it may feel. We need to focus on garnering the correct information about our own bodies’ health requirements. We need to focus on tackling and getting rid of our insecurities towards our bodies.
Insecurity about our bodies is the root cause of the blame game. It feeds of laziness, excuses, lack of effort and weakens us over time. But instead of ridding ourselves of this habit we embrace it. Insecurity teaches us to play the blame game, and since we love it so much we take insecurity home and make it a permanent part of our lives.
The world over health/fitness experts blames the media, celebrities, and glamor models for issues plaguing health. They claim magazines, television, and the movies create a superficial image of what our ideal bodies should look like. This affects the population at large and they get sucked into this whirlpool.
Yes at one level this does affect us. No one can deny the impact of these mediums in the world today. But they only affect us when we don’t want to think for ourselves, want a quick fix solution to our fitness problems. We want a ready made solution served on a platter.
You know why thinking this way works, because if we fail...

VOILA! , We get to blame the world again.
Throw the excuses out..Start a blame game anonymous group with friends, family and the community at large. Get rid of this vicious way of thinking and embrace responsibility towards one health. Embrace actions that get you healthier, Embrace the wonders of nutrition in it’s actual glory. Learn how to cook healthy and nutritious meals. Embrace the marvels of physical exercise which  pumps our mind, heart and body with such positivity that we spread the joy of good clean health all around.
Let’s do it now.
Get healthy for a fitter and happier world.
